History

Established in 2000, NurseManifest is A Call to Conscience and Action . . .

  • To raise awareness,
  • To inspire action, and
  • To open discussion of issues that are vital to nursing and health care around the globe.

We believe that there is a rich but untold history of nurse activism and struggle to enact core nursing values.  This section of our web site is dedicated to documenting some of that history!

Politics of Caring Film (mid 1970’s)

We recently obtained access to the film “Politics of Caring” and the folks who produced it (way back in the ’70’s) have generously given us access to post it here! Thanks especially to Karen Wolf and to Joan Sawyer for making this possible. This is as relevant today as ever, and includes some very important historical figures, including JoAnn Ashley. (note: feel free to post a link to this film on your own web page, but do not embed it; our permission does not include embedding elsewhere).
